No More Sugarcoating.

Definition of Sugarcoating

We all have had a crappy year.

No more Sugarcoating.

The pandemic has taken so much from us

No more Sugarcoating

Relying on our governments hasn’t brought us any relief,

No more Sugarcoating

Christmas will be an anticlimax

No more Sugarcoating

Due to cyclones and other disasters some of us have no homes

No more Sugarcoating

Due to covid some of us have no jobs nor any way of making a living

No more Sugarcoating

Loved ones have been lost due to man-made disasters, as well as directly or indirectly due to the pandemic

No more Sugarcoating

We can pray, curse or stare apathetically or in disbelief

No more Sugarcoating

We are all still reeling from blow after blow

No more Sugarcoating

My dear fellow humans, we are told to make the best of it

No more Sugarcoating

Best of what we may well ask,

No more Sugarcoating.

We’re told, ‘Best of what you have now,’ which is almost nothing

No more Sugarcoating

Let them not pull the wool over our eyes

No more Sugarcoating

Don’t sugarcoat what we’ve been through

Please, no more Sugarcoating

Lies and deceit we’ve been hearing all year

No more Sugarcoating

Its about time we open our eyes and see things as it is

No more Sugarcoating

It’s about time we stand up and say enough is enough

No more Sugarcoating.

So, my beloved humans

Let’s end this year contemplating what was and is, now

No more Sugarcoating

Try to rebuild our lives, because we are resilient and strong

Without any more sugar coating

To end, May the true meaning of Christmas, the birth of our Saviour, be in our hearts always

Without any more Sugarcoating

Love always,

An example of sugarcoating

Published by Therese Work

I have started this my first website. Always been my dream to build one. I love being online. To me it's a whole new world, but I love the real world too and my favourite interest is walking. Reading, meeting people and going to movies and restaurants are some of my hobbies. I have kids who love animes so I got caught up in that too ๐Ÿ˜„ I love going to the beach on any given day rain or shine, but rainy days are the best for me. Coming back home from one of these excursions and then listening to the pitter patter of the rain on the roof or the drumming sound it makes is my lullaby and the sound of the surf pounding on the reef is another. Writing my first book and itโ€™s an amazing thing finding out how capable you are of building a story up and then that story taking over in the telling. The things Iโ€™ve learnt about myself while writing this is just phenomenal. I love what Iโ€™m doing and doing what I love.
